It debuts tonight, right?

Whose up for another try at the well-produced, well-acted, psychotically written merry-go-round?

I would be so up for this if I knew a prototype Cylon named Boomer would beat Joseph Adama to death with a pet wooden elephant called Cavil.

I wish they'd get Mrs. Park to do a bit part as a researcher or lab tech in a genetics lab. Maybe they could have that picture of "Boomer's" parents on her desk as a tip to obsessive fans.

I'd be much more interested in a show that took place on Caprica after BSG instead of before. Have a whole different cast as survivors of the nuclear war trying to rebuild civilization. Maybe get some of the Cylon actors to show up occasionally as Cylons (yes, possibly including Mrs. Park) who stayed behind when the rest of their kind left.

Really liked the DVD release; very promising. I'll definitely give the series a shot. Starts Feb 2 here with the pilot.

I'll give it a shot. The pilot was midly interesting and with Dollhouse concluding this week, there won't be anything else I need to watch on Friday nights. Plus, they've already got some pretty great actors in as guest stars.

I'll probably grab/watch, but not comment.
The pilot's ending was already bad enough, imho. C'mon, a girl's soul trapped into a robot? (cheesy, and this described universe - mimicking the beginning of our 21st century - hasn't the technology to do that)
Oh, and someone just forgot the difference between making a copy and moving data... (Zoe's brain pattern)
But that's just me.

I don't think the Caprica universe is supposed to equate to our 21st century. In fact, I think it's supposed to be much more advanced than the BSG 'verse, which went retro.

Did anyone see the first regular season episode? A bit of a disappointment compared to the pilot, imo. Kind of hard to follow. Maybe it's just me, but the whole thing seemed to be poorly edited. And the there's a girl inside the robot that only the audience can see was downright hokey.

Does it mean that the first episode is some kind of digest of the pilot?

No, it was a continuation. But it had a completely different feel to it than the pilot (which I liked). They want to demonstrate that there is a human consciousness trapped inside the body of a robot, but showing Zoe Graystone standing there while the other characters react to her as if they're seeing a cylon just doesn't work, imo.

It wasn't bad, but it's kind of hard to believe it has big audience building potential unless the events perk up soon. I thought the Zoe/Cylon thing kind of worked, but admit it has the potential to be badly overused.

I was a little leery of the shock ending, too, given my BSG experience. If you guys were Boomer fans, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

So, the nine first episodes of Caprica have been aired. It will come back in September for the rest of S1.
Did you watch it too? What do you think of this show?

It got better as it went along. Listening to the podcasts...done by David Eick...it seems there was something of a reevaluation of what the show should be... around episode six or seven. Should it be a soap opera...or more of an action/thriller like BSG. They decided to make it more BSG-like, and although Eick never said so outright, I got the impression that Jane Espenson was on the losing end of that battle.
