Once upon a time there was a wee spammer who soon discovered that a fine knight from Alsace, brave and true, but with bad taste in wine, would defend the ramparts of his castle from invasion.

EDITED BY PIERRE

This SPAM s*cker made ~30 identical posts, in every section of ATS. I deleted them all, except this one, so you can see.

*@## it's not the first time : I've already deleted his account and posts a few days ago.
I've banned his IP.

Spammers use "hijacked" IPs so when you ban one you take the risk to ban regular honest users.

Wild-cart characters are allowed to include dynamic IPs but same risk as above.

Man, this jackass is pissing me off. I spent an hour a few days ago deleting spam accounts; I say we ban the ISP and the hell with it. (I've been banning spammers by ISP anyway.)

How did you spend an hour? :?: It took me 2 minutes to delete the account and all the posts. There's an option in the admin panel to do this with one click.

'Cause I went through the member list case by case, examining the people with no posts and suspicious usernames. Takes a while. The deactivating and whatnot is down to a science, the making the decision takes longer.
