Another big winner of the Last Fic'er Standing Redux 2009 was RebelliousRose who wrote Eight (a-hem) ficlets for the event spread over all three of the fandom threads. That's twice as many as the next most prolific fic'ers! Presumably she got to have more fun than any of the rest of us, but for writing above and beyond the call of duty I am also going to send RebelliousRose one of the special Secret Prizes that I occasionally dispense. Congratulations!

Congrats BSG! I'll have a pretty to post just as soon as life stops being bi-polar.

I had a plan for swooping in a the last minute and bumping up the SCC count, but my laptop issues foiled my plan. Frakkin' metal.

I'm sorry, but I know NOTHING about restaurants, however as a new parent I think there's a market for deep frozen lasagna, casserole, etc. dish congratulatory "Bouquets" for new parents if you can mass produce meals that freeze well.

Actually, I could totally do that, but you need a commercial kitchen to make that one work. If my job potentials don't work out...... Maybe a service to come in, cook a few meals, freeze them, and duck out......

That would be a huge help to a new family and I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a steady stream of new mom's who'd pay for it (or friends and family who'd give it as gifts). It seems obvious where to advertise to reach the target market, too.

Although I have no idea what I'm talking about I will suggest that if I needed a commercial kitchen for something like that without the capital to set up my own, I would go to existing small restaurants and see if they'd rent me their kitchen at night when they are closed and their equipment would otherwise be laying idle not producing any revenue for them. You get access to a commercial kitchen without capital investment. They get some additional cash flow at a time when people are eating out less and they may be worried about keeping the doors open and the lights on. Win-win. Again, IANAR.

OK, so we've hijacked the thread, but this is interesting- what kinds of meals are we talking about, specifically? Breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, heat-n-eat, hot meals, cold meals? Would in the home be better, or delivery?

Commercial kitchens are the least of my worries.

Maybe this needs its own thread. (Probably in the Boomer Fanfiction forum? ;) ) I'd say we take it private, except that other parents may chime in with their own thoughts. Give me a day to give some thought to your question and I'll let you know tomorrow.

Same here. I told hubby that the first thing I am doing after we get back on our financial feet is a HUGE computer upgrade.
