This thread's for fic recs- that stuff that's so insanely good that you need to tell people about it and where to read it. Any fic goes, just tell a little bit about it (pairing, ratings, storyline, excerpt) and please provide a link. Any and all fandoms allowed.

Heya guys - This is not my material, but it is, far and away, one of the best Helo/Sharon fics out there. Please go check it out. Here's the info...

Title: Home
Author: JPBryant
Location: Everything That Never Happens --> http://repr0b8.livejournal.com
Link: http://repr0b8.livejournal.com/92658.html
Summary: Helo is forced to take drastic measures to protect his family after a series of events aboard Galactica open his eyes to the reality he and Sharon face. Set after "A Measure of Salvation", it goes completely AU.

Enjoy, guys! It's a long one, but sooo good.

I know I rec these everywhere and all the time. In fact, they are my top five rec favorites of all time. (In no particular order of awesome.)

1. Intra, by Kate Andrews. Kara/Lee, other characters. It's a closeup look at what went on during 33, and it's amazing- it has everything- sex, pathos, humor, coffee- the only thing missing is Helo, and we know what he was busy doing.

2. Black Flag by inlovewithnight. It's an absolutely brilliant piece, as 'night's fics tend to be- she's written about Helo's real punishment for killing the Cylons in AMoS, and it's brutal, and somehow satisfying, even if you love Helo.

3. Five Fraks That May Or May Not Have Happened To Helo, by sabaceanbabe. This is one of the all-time greats of the BSG verse- it's the story that Tahmoh and Leah Cairns based Helo and Racetrack's relationship on. SB is.....well, read it. She just gets better with each story, but this is the first one of hers I read and it has a special place in my heart.

4. The Moments In Between, by bantha_fodder and stars_like_dust (also knows as Pen and Claira). It's a three-way between Lee, Helo, and Starbuck, in a shower, and without ever being sexually explicit, it manages to be the most erotic piece of character-driven fic ever.

5. Is going to have to be a tie, between two magnificent AU's by authors I have already recced; inlovewithnight's Ear Tuned To The Roar, and Scenes From A Liberation, by sabaceanbabe. Both AU, both Helo and Sharon, but in very different ways. 'night's is even darker than SB's, and to even give you more would be a terrible spoiler. Scenes is something that might have happened, and could have happened if the writers went a little different in their direction on the show.

And I always have to give an honorable mention to 'night's Calling The Shots, which is Lee, Helo, and Racetrack after Baltar decides everyone needs to start having babies- ASAP. It's cracky, and character-driven and fabulous porn with plot in that special 'night way.

While reading the_wireless this evening, I came across lls_mutant's Crescendo, and had to run right over here and rec it- it's set during the Demetrius arc, and the characters used are Helo, Barolay, Gaeta, Anders, and Seelix. There is a lot of humor to it, but like any lls_mutant fic, it ends with a punch to the gut. She's an amazing writer.

Thanks for the recs, hon. I haven't read The Moments Between, so yay for a new one and I have Crescendo on my reading list. Ear Tuned to the Roar is one of my favorite fic ever and I really wish she'd write that sequel she talks about from time to time.

The Moments Between is short (ish) and it's one of my all-time favorites. How can you resist a line like "Yesterday he walked in on HotDog wanking, and that's not exactly an experience he's eager to repeat."

I love Jeff's stuff, it's almost like a Sharon/Helo novel.

Take This by azuraangel05 on Live Journal. It's Dollhouse, Paul/Mellie based on their last scene together in Spy in the House of Love and while it's badly in need of a good beta (I suspect the author is not a native English speaker, based on some of the errors), it's a powerful look at what is going through Paul's mind after November's revelation.

Oooh! New one from the LJ bsg_remix comm; it's called Smiles We Left Behind, and it's a neat little exploration of Athena encountering Boomer's memories. Don't know the author- not revealed yet.

Yeah, it does; that scene's been written a lot in various places, I think, but everyone's takes on it just make it more valid and richer.

Perhaps it is bad form to recommend fiction from this very board. I don't care. This is something that begs to be read!

Sometimes a Stupid Notion
by ATS's very own NT2
http://www.acrossthesalt.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=277

The reason I'm recommending it is that it is "buried" in the Boomer Fanfic section and Athena/Helo fans may be missing it. While supposedly a "Boomer-centric fiction" this story is really an ensemble story that features Athena and Helo quite prominently. In fact, there is a bit where Helo and Athena are talking about Boomer and Helo seems as if he is being naive but suddenly he tells Athena something about her time in the brig after they thought they'd lost Hera. That next sentence turns into the most touching (and in character) Helo & Athena scene I've read in a long, long time. Just go read the whole thing. :ok:

Yes, I had noticed that part.

Oh, man. Run, don't walk to this one; He Who Watches The Heavens over at LJ. It's a post-daybreak fic from Lee Adama's POV, and it's BEAUTIFUL. Helo, Hera and Sharon are the other characters.

I just discovered this one: Double Fugue, by Grey_SW.
(apparently a sequel to A Symphony for Twelve )

Interesting thoughts about projecting. And the Boomer/Galen/Cavil triangle.
